The Chokramudi climb

My friends and I had been itching to climb some lesser known peak and we decided on Chokramudi. It's located near the Gap Road in Munnar and the climb offers some really wonderful views of the tea estates.

The climb is of three sections. The initial climb to the first peak which has a lot of steep climbs and a cross on its summit(which is where most people turn back), the second climb which initially starts with a descent and then takes you on a crazy ascent after throwing a dense shola at you and the last climb to Chokramudi which is the easiest of the three except for the last 10 meters or so of having to climb on a rock.

The initial stage tested us a lot mainly because of some 'tourist' trekkers who were testing our patience with their tantrums and their annoyingly slow pace which often made us wait on steep rock faces without being able to move. We then made it to the first peak which had a cross on the peak and the tourists decided to turn back here.

We then set out to the second peak which was pretty fun partly thanks to the dense shola. After this, we had to descend on the ridge behind this peak and it was a bit tricky. The ridge leading to the third peak is rumoured to have a lot of wildlife but we didn't encounter any.

The third peak is actually smaller than the second but the last stage of the climb is pretty thrilling. You have to literally climb a rock and it gets tricky in the monsoons.
